What led you to try the taste success programme?
The first moment it really dawned on me I needed to do something was when I saw my reflection in a shop window. I thought “I’ve got to do something!” I was invited to a talk Tracey was giving and what she was saying completely resonated with me. I knew that taste success was for me. It appeared quite effortless – and because I am a real foodie, I was inspired by how tasty the food looked and the variety it offered.
What was the first week on the programme like?
During the first week I was really hungry and I felt like I was just waiting for the next meal. My mother was staying with me and was very encouraging. My body was detoxing fast! In the second week I started to feel great, my body started to stabilise and the cravings subsided.
Are there any obvious 'changes' that you have noted?
Where do I start? I am sleeping better. My craving for sweet or junk food has gone - it is effortless, I don’t want it! I am full when I am supposed to be. When I go out with friends I no longer have food envy and give in to getting dessert. I can say no to food without feeling like I am missing out. I used to suffer from stomach cramps frequently, they are gone. I have more energy and am coping with life’s stresses so much better. It has been a stressful term but I am fine, which in turn means my family are too! I am much more chilled. My skin is no longer dry and everywhere I go people are commenting saying, “Nelunka, you look great!” Previously I was working out three times a week with very little weight loss. Now that I am teaming fitness with the taste success programme I am having wonderful results. Thus far I have lost 8.5kg, 3% body fat and a total body measurement loss of 40.75cm. I have discovered that food is definitely the key component for shifting unwanted weight.
Has the programme been difficult to stick to?
Not at all. Everything is made easy. The meals are planned, the grocery list is made. There is so much variety. My grocery bill has remained the same as it was before. I have tried other eating regimes before, but this is completely different. I am still loving the programme.
What is your plan once the twelve week programme is complete? I will absolutely keep going. In fact I have already decided to do it at least until the end of the year. I think in the future I will just gradually keep finding similar styles of recipes to add in to the plan. I don’t see myself giving up, it is my way of eating now. My body is responding so beautifully I don’t want to stop that!
Now the 12-week programme is completed, what is your plan?

After experiencing such positive changes from the Taste Success programme herself, we are delighted that Nelunka has now become a facilitator for the programme in the Oamaru area.
